KUALA LUMPUR: Eden Inc Bhd, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Stratavest Sdn Bhd (STV), has entered into a new power purchase agreement (PPA) with Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd.

In a statement, Eden said the agreement, effective Feb 28, extends STV's operation of the Libaran Power Plant for another two years and increases its capacity from 30 Megawatts (MW) to 45 MW to meet the growing energy demands of Sabah’s East Coast.

Eden said the extension and capacity expansion were expected to boost its earnings and net assets, reinforcing its energy business as a key driver of future growth.

It added that the new PPA followed the Sabah Energy Commission’s recent visit, with two 15 MW units beginning operations on 28 February for a seamless power transition.

A third unit, adding 15 MW to the grid, is set to be commissioned by Sept 1, 2025, but STV is confident it can complete it earlier, by April 2025.

With this expansion, STV will be operating a 45 MW power facility, reinforcing its commitment to deliver stable and reliable electricity supply to the region.

The new PPA will remain in effect until Feb 27, 2027, securing STV’s continued role in supporting Sabah’s energy infrastructure.
