According to statistics from Korea's Ministry of Industry, Trade and Resources, total exports from January to November reached 640.2 billion US dollars, an increase of 2.9% over the same period, the highest level in history for the same period. The previous record for the same period was 628.7 billion US dollars in 2022. The South Korean government anticipates that this year's annual exports will exceed 700 billion US dollars for the first time. However, although the semiconductor industry is in an “industry-wide supercycle” and continues to benefit, exports after excluding semiconductors are expected to shrink due to global trade uncertainty and slowing growth in various industries such as steel, petrochemicals, and rechargeable batteries. In January-November, South Korea's export value after excluding semiconductors was 487.6 billion US dollars, down 1.5% year on year.
