On May 21, while attending the APEC Trade Ministers Meeting in Suzhou, Li Chenggang, International Trade Negotiator and Vice Minister of Commerce, attended a ministerial meeting between China and the members of the Digital Economy Partnership Agreement. China joined the DEPA Working Group as Chairman of the DEPA Working Group: Estevez, Deputy Minister of International Economic Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile; Minister of Trade McCrae of New Zealand; Fu Haiyan, Minister of Sustainable Development and Environment and Minister of Trade Relations of Singapore; and Lu Han-jeou, Minister of Trade and Negotiations of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Korea, attended the meeting. Li Chenggang said that in recent years, the Chinese government has actively promoted the process of joining DEPA, actively connected with DEPA rules, and continuously improved the governance of the digital economy. China's entry into DEPA will send a strong signal to the world to support the rules-based multilateral trading system, greatly expand DEPA's influence, and provide strong institutional guarantees for cooperation between China and DEPA members in the digital field. China is ready to work with all parties to accelerate the negotiation process in a flexible and pragmatic manner, and reach mutually beneficial and win-win results as soon as possible on the basis of the progress already achieved. At the meeting, the parties had an in-depth exchange of views on issues left over from the negotiations. DEPA members appreciated China's active and constructive participation in the negotiations and instructed the working team to work with China to speed up the negotiation process and push for early results.
