Palantir Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:PLTR) is experiencing significant revenue growth, but its current stock valuation assumes sustained, flawless performance over an extended period, according to George Tsilis from Charles Schwab.
Tsilis stated that the primary concern for Palantir remains its valuation. He noted the company holds a market capitalization near $460-$470 billion and trades at roughly 124 times forward earnings, compared to an average of 22 times earnings for its peers in the application software space.
According to Benzinga Pro, it trades at a trailing price-to-earnings ratio of 165.940 and a price-to-sales ratio of 81.091, with 465.408 billion in market capitalization.
While Palantir generates extraordinary growth, Tsilis questioned whether the company can maintain these rates long enough to justify a multiple that “already prices in years of exceptional execution.”
Furthermore, Tsilis highlighted that revenue growth remains concentrated in the United States, pointing out that international commercial adoption has not matched the domestic pace.
The valuation debate follows strong fundamental performance, with Palantir reporting second-quarter revenue of approximately $1.94 billion, representing a 93% year-over-year increase, Tsilis reported.
U.S. commercial revenue increased 149% to $764 million. Tsilis stated that Palantir has evolved from a government-focused data analytics firm into an “operating system for enterprise and sovereign artificial intelligence.”
According to Tsilis, Palantir’s core advantage is its ontology architecture, which connects AI models to an organization’s proprietary data and real-world operations rather than simply building underlying AI models.
From a technical perspective, Tsilis described the setup as bullish on an intermediate-term basis, noting the stock broke sharply higher following its August earnings report.
Trading near $193-$194 and approaching a 52-week high around $213, the stock remains above its 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day moving averages. However, Tsilis identified the $213 level as an important test before the company’s next earnings report on Nov. 2.
The stock was 1.04% lower in premarket trading on Tuesday. It advanced by 8.98% over the last year, up 9.23% year-to-date, and higher by 9.29% over the last month. The stock closed up 4.36% at $194.15 on Monday.
Benzinga’s Edge Stock Rankings indicate that PLTR maintains a strong price trend in the short, long, and medium terms, with a poor value score.
