PENANG: Kaotim, the online platform operated by Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Keluarga Bhd, has introduced two new products – Kaotim Car and Kaotim Motor – aiming to achieve a collection target of RM10mil in car and motorcycle premiums this year.

Its group chief executive officer (CEO) Nor Azman Zainal said these new offerings reflect Takaful Malaysia’s commitment to expanding its digital insurance and takaful services.

“With the rising number of vehicle sales and the growth in the motor insurance industry, the company aims to enhance its presence in the market while addressing the evolving needs of modern vehicle owners.

“Kaotim Car and Kaotim Motor are the latest additions to the Kaotim platform, providing comprehensive, affordable protection through an easy-to-use, mobile-friendly platform,” he said in his speech at the launch of the platform in Batu Ferringhi on Thursday.

Nor Azman highlighted the successful launch of Kaotim last November, noting its transformation into more than just a simple sales channel.

“Kaotim is not just an app, but an evolving ecosystem that we are carefully building step by step.

“With the recent introduction of Kaotim Car and Kaotim Motor, this is a significant milestone in the platform’s journey, and our goal is to become a key player in Malaysia’s retail market for insurance and takaful,” he said.

Nor Azman emphasised that these new offerings align with Takaful Malaysia’s digital strategy, which is designed to meet the changing needs of vehicle owners.

He highlighted the platform’s ease of use, explaining that customers can purchase or renew their car and motorcycle protection plans in just three to four clicks.

“With Kaotim Car and Kaotim Motor, they’re similar to our medical card. If you’re a healthy customer, you can complete your purchase in just five minutes.

“Our focus is on delivering a premium customer experience that keeps pace with the fast-moving demands of today’s consumers,” he said.

Kaotim offers extensive coverage for private car and motorcycle owners, including protection against accidental damage, fire, theft, third-party liability and property damage, along with 24-hour roadside assistance, free breakdown towing and personal accident coverage.

According to Nor Azman, the new products are part of Takaful Malaysia’s strategic efforts to remain competitive in the growing motor insurance market.“As the company celebrates its 40th anniversary, we continue to focus on offering digital solutions that align with the changing lifestyles of consumers.

“Our nation is moving towards the digital economy, and we are playing our part in advancing insurance and takaful in Malaysia.”

The group CEO further explained that Takaful Malaysia chose the name Kaotim for the platform because it resonates with all Malaysians.

“While the word is neither Chinese nor Malay, it carries a familiar meaning of ‘all settled’, making it relatable across all communities in the country,” he added.

The launch event featured notable leaders from Takaful Malaysia, including group chairman Datuk Mohammed Hussein, Syarikat Takaful Malaysia Am Bhd chairman Ismail Mahbob and Takaful Malaysia Am CEO Mohamed Sabri Ramli.

Nor Azman also took a moment to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of his team, expressing special gratitude to Takaful Malaysia Am’s Mohamed Sabri and Takaful Malaysia’s chief marketing officer Siti Hajar Rizlan, as well as the information technology and project management teams, for their key roles in the success of this initiative.
