Gamuda wins RM3.72bil contract for Kaohsiung port LNG terminal in Taiwan

KUALA LUMPUR: Gamuda Bhd has secured its ninth project in Taiwan with a RM3.72bil contract to construct a wharf and connecting roads (bridges) for the Kaohsiung Port Intercontinental LNG Terminal.

In a statement, Gamuda said the contract was awarded to an unincorporated joint venture, with Gamuda holding a 70% stake and Dong Pi Co Ltd the remaining 30%, for the construction of a wharf and connecting roads (bridges) at the Kaohsiung Port Intercontinental LNG Terminal.

The project is expected to be completed in five years.

The scope of work includes constructing 2.193km of seawall comprising 87 caissons, a 1.2km connecting bridge, a 729m wharf, multiple platforms (including unloading, connecting, and turning platforms), and caisson docks (such as berthing and mooring docks, a service platform, and vehicle access platforms).

In March 2025, Gamuda bagged its eighth project in Taiwan — the 345kV Gangfeng-Zhongke, Zhongke-Hengshan Underground Transmission Line Civil Engineering and Auxiliary E&M System Design-Build (Third Section) Project — valued at RM557.2mil.

Gamuda has been involved in Taiwan’s infrastructure development since 2002, with projects spanning transport, marine works, and utilities.

These include the Kaohsiung MRT Orange and Yellow Lines, TaoYuan City Underground Railway, Xizhi Donghu MRT, Guantang Marine Bridge, the Taipei Port seawall, and the 161kV Songshu–Guanfeng Underground Transmission Line.

Gamuda closed up 14 sen, or 3.01% to RM4.79 with 37.32 million shares traded.
