Mohd Rafique Merican made Bursa director

PETALING JAYA: Bursa Malaysia Bhd has appointed Datuk Mohamed Rafique Merican as an independent non-executive director, with effect from Aug 15.

In a statement, the stock market operator said Mohamed Rafique will also serve as a member of the audit committee as well as the nomination and remuneration committee.

“Mohamed Rafique brings over 30 years of extensive experience across financial services investment, power, facilities management and property development.

“He previously served as group chief executive officer of Islamic banking, Maybank Group, and chief executive officer of Maybank Islamic Bhd.”

He has also held key leadership roles including as chief financial officer of Tenaga Nasional Bhd, chief executive officer of Radicare (M) Sdn Bhd and chief financial officer and joint company secretary of Malakoff Bhd.
