Nearly 1,000 people from all walks of life in Cuba held a rally in the capital Havana on the 6th to denounce the US military threat and sanctions blockade against Venezuela, and to reaffirm their support for the Venezuelan government. Teresa Amarelle, general secretary of the Federation of Cuban Women, said at the rally that the US sanctions against the country were “collective torture” and “an attempt to force a nation that has never bowed down to its knees through starvation.” Amarelle said that the so-called drug cartels only exist “in the imagination of US imperialism,” and the US side has failed to provide any evidence to support this statement.
