The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announced that as of 1:00 p.m. today, the “Tai Po Wang Fu Yuen Assistance Fund” has received about HK$3 billion in external donations. Together with the HK$300 million start-up capital invested by the government, the total amount of the fund is about HK$3.3 billion. It will be used to help residents rebuild their homes and is a long-term and continuous support. At present, the Hong Kong police have completed internal searches of all 7 buildings. Today, the “Disaster Victims Identification Team” personnel continued to search the periphery of the building and near the collapsed scaffolding that has been determined to be safe. No remains have been found, and the number of deaths remains at 159. The police are contacting the missing person and the family members who have initially identified the remains based on the photos to arrange for them to sample deoxyribonucleic acid oral swabs in batches starting tomorrow for scientific identification.
