On the 7th local time, Basem Naeem, a senior Palestinian Islamic Resistance official, said that Hamas is willing to begin negotiations on its weapons issues, including “freezing or storing weapons,” in order to advance the second phase of negotiations on the cease-fire agreement in Gaza. Naeem said that Hamas still insists on the “right to resist,” but is willing to discuss the issue of disarmament within the framework of promoting the establishment of a Palestinian state, and proposed that negotiations can be carried out through a long-term cease-fire period of 5 to 10 years. Naeem said, “We are very open to this. We can talk about freezing, storing, or even shelving weapons, as long as there are guarantees from the Palestinian side.”
