On December 8, local time, the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Overseas Chinese Affairs strongly condemned Israel's Finance Minister Smoltrikh's remarks on refusing to establish a Palestinian state and the Israeli government's announcement of plans to expand and build new illegal settlements in the West Bank, pointing out that the relevant measures seriously violate international law and international humanitarian law, infringe on the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination, and jeopardize the prospects for achieving an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. The statement stressed that Israel has no sovereignty over the West Bank.
