According to the statement, QAI will invest in AI infrastructure in Qatar and around the world, and provide “high-performance computing capabilities and a set of connected tools.” The UAE and Saudi Arabia have each set up multi-billion dollar AI funds and built national-level AI leaders: Abu Dhabi's G42 and Riyadh's Humain. In contrast, Qatar has adopted a more prudent strategy, but its sovereign fund has recently actively participated in AI startup financing in Silicon Valley, including participating in Anthropic's $13 billion funding round in September this year. It is worth noting that instead of developing large-scale language models like Google Gemini, Qai will focus on evaluating, commercializing existing cutting-edge models, and exploring next-generation AI applications such as “autonomous intelligence.”
