Fu Cong, China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, spoke at the UN Security Council on the 8th while hearing a briefing on the work of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, stressing the need to maintain common security and practice multilateralism. He said that the current global security situation continues to deteriorate, geographical conflicts continue to intensify, hot issues are rising one after another, unilateralism and protectionism are clearly on the rise, and various traditional and non-traditional security threats are intertwined and superimposed. In this context, the United Nations and regional organizations, including the OSCE, should further strengthen cooperation and make due contributions to maintaining international peace and security. Under the current circumstances, the international community should uphold a common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security concept, attach importance to and properly resolve each other's legitimate and reasonable security concerns, maintain security in traditional and non-traditional fields in an integrated manner, adhere to the principle of indivisibility of security, coordinate the promotion of global security governance, and strive to achieve universal security and common security. He said that the international community should practice true multilateralism, abide by the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, firmly uphold the international system with the United Nations at its core, the international order based on international law, and the basic rules of international relations based on the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, and maintain the authority of the United Nations and its position as the main platform for global security governance. The international community should support dialogue and consultation, jointly resist the Cold War mentality and factional confrontation, persuade and facilitate negotiations and mediation in accordance with the needs and wishes of the countries concerned, and encourage all parties to the conflict to build mutual trust, resolve disputes, and promote security through dialogue.
