The Zhitong Finance App learned that data from the data tracking agency Sensor Tower shows that Google (GOOGL.US)'s Gemini artificial intelligence chatbot application continues to make progress in catching up with OpenAI's ChatGPT.

In the week ending November 24, Gemini accounted for 33% of downloads. According to the report, this figure is higher than 29% in the previous two weeks. In the week ending November 24, ChatGPT remained at the top with 42% downloads, which was lower than the 46% and 45% share in the previous two weeks. Sensor Tower's data does not include downloads from Chinese users.

The data also shows that on mobile apps, daily usage of ChatGPT still far exceeds that of its competitors. For example, nearly 90% of mobile app chatbot user sessions involve ChatGPT. Gemini accounts for 4% of sessions, followed by DeepSeek (DEEPSEEK) and Perplexity.

Google launched Gemini 3 on November 18. There are also reports that Google may introduce ads to Gemini.

OpenAI released ChatGPT-5.1 on November 12th.

Last week, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman (Sam Altman) announced a “red alert” operation to improve the quality of ChatGPT amid growing AI competition.
