Recently, at the 2026 Investment Strategy Meeting of the China-Europe Fund, Ren Fei, deputy director of the China-Europe Equity Research Department and fund manager, said that unlike previous economic cycles, there are currently two trending forces that are forming additional electricity demand: one is the rapid expansion of AI data centers, and the other is the transfer of energy-intensive industries and supply chain reconstruction brought about by re-industrialization. Both are independent of traditional economic fluctuations, and are growing at a remarkable rate. Looking at the medium to long term, the world's electricity demand, which requires additional consumption, may face a huge increase in the next few years. Under this logic, Ren Fei believes that there are three major directions worth paying attention to: first, supply constraints, and high-energy industries such as electrolytic aluminum may be directly limited; second, demand is boosted, global power tension boosts demand for photovoltaics and energy storage, and overseas energy storage markets may grow in 2027-2028; third, China's power supply is relatively abundant, and the cost and supply chain advantages of the high-energy manufacturing industry will be further highlighted.
