08:13 AM EST, 12/10/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The Italian competition regulator launched two investigations into watchmakers Swatch Group (UHR.SW) and Citizen Watch for allegedly using commercial strategies to limit price competition among their respective distributors. The Italian Competition Authority said Tuesday it launched a probe into The Swatch Group (Italia) and its Swiss parent, Swatch Group, and into Citizen Watch Italy and its Japanese parent Citizen Watch. Their premises were inspected Dec. 3 by officials and the Italian Financial Police. The authority claimed that the groups violated the European Union's laws by fixing retail prices displayed online by their authorized distributors.
