On December 11, 2025, Liu Yuxi, the Chinese government's special representative for African affairs, was invited to attend a reception hosted by the Burkina Faso Embassy in China for the 65th anniversary of the independence of Burundi and delivered a speech. Liu Yuxi congratulated Burundi on the 65th anniversary of independence, saying that since the resumption of diplomatic relations, Sino-Burundian relations have developed rapidly. The two countries established a strategic partnership last year, mutual political trust has continued to deepen, cooperation in various fields has been fruitful, and the friendship between China and Burundi is becoming more and more deeply entrenched in the hearts of the people. The Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee held in October this year reviewed and approved the “15th Five-Year Plan” plan proposal. In the next five years, China will bring more opportunities to African countries, including Burundi. China is ready to work with Burundi to continue to implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, continue our friendship, develop together, and better benefit the peoples of the two countries. Ambassador of Burundi to China, Bi Dawu, spoke highly of bilateral relations, thanked the Chinese side for its valuable support for Burundi's economic and social development, and said that China's rapid development during the “15th Five-Year Plan” period will create greater opportunities for China-Africa cooperation, particularly Sino-Burundian cooperation. The Burundian side is willing to continue strengthening friendship and deepening practical cooperation with China. It also welcomes Chinese enterprises to continue to invest and develop businesses in Burundi to help the Burundian economy develop.
