On December 12, local time, the South African government confirmed that it had sent an official letter to other G20 members to raise objections to the US practice of excluding South Africa from participating in relevant meetings during its 2026 G20 presidency. The South African side hopes that related issues will be included on the agenda and discussed at the first G20 Coordinators Meeting to be held in Washington on December 15.
