On December 2, the mandatory national standard “Data Security Technology Electronic Product Information Removal Technical Requirements” proposed and consolidated by the Central Internet Information Office was approved and issued by the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration and the National Standardization Administration, and will be officially implemented on January 1, 2027. With the rapid development of the digital economy, the frequency of updates of electronic products such as mobile phones and computers is increasing, and the circulation volume of used electronic products is increasing. However, in the circulation process, the risk of data leakage due to incomplete information removal is becoming more and more prominent, which directly affects the public interest of society and the security of personal information. In order to implement the relevant requirements of the “Action Plan to Promote Large-scale Equipment Renewal and Consumer Goods Trade-In” issued by the State Council regarding “introducing a national standard for information removal methods in second-hand transactions of electronic products such as mobile phones and tablets”, the Central Network Information Office proposed and commissioned the National Cybersecurity Standardization Technical Committee to organize and formulate this standard. The aim is to standardize electronic product information removal technology methods, guide recycling operators to establish sound information removal management and technical measures, and prevent the risk of data leakage in second-hand circulation.
