Thai Foreign Minister Sihasa Ponzhik held a press conference on the 13th, reaffirming that the landmines in the Thai-Cambodian border area that killed or injured Thai soldiers were not an “accident,” but were planted by the Cambodian side. The Thai side was disappointed with US President Trump's related remarks on social media. Sihasa said that the US side may not fully understand the real situation or that the information it has received is wrong. The fact is that the Cambodian side has planted mines in the border area seven times. This has been confirmed by observers, not by the Thai side. On the 13th, Cambodia also used BM-21 rockets to attack areas inhabited by Thai civilians. This was a deliberate attack by the Cambodian side. Trump said that Thailand's counterattack was excessive, “but in fact our counterattack was commensurate with the other party's attack.” Sihasa said that the Thai side was “disappointed” by Trump's statement that the roadside bomb that killed and injured many Thai soldiers was an “accident,” saying that this statement hurt the feelings of the Thai people. Sihasa said that currently 6,000 to 7,000 Thais are stranded on the Cambodian side of the Thai-Cambodian border at the Poipet port and are unable to return home. The Thai side did not prevent Cambodians in Thailand from returning home, and Cambodia has repeatedly delayed opening the border.
