The “14th Five-Year Plan” Development Achievement Report of China's Oil and Gas Industry shows that China is accelerating towards a new stage of development of the modern oil and gas industry. The energy structure is becoming more diverse and balanced. By 2030, China's natural gas production will reach 300 billion cubic meters. The report shows that during the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, China added a total of 7 billion tons of proven geological reserves of oil and 7 trillion cubic meters of natural gas, which increased by about 43% and 40% respectively over the “13th Five-Year Plan”, and oil and gas production reached record highs. The report predicts that in the next ten years, China's energy structure will show the characteristics of “reduced coal, stable oil and gas, and non-fossil rise.” By 2060, China's fossil energy, hydropower, nuclear power, wind power, and optoelectronics will account for 23%, 19%, 25%, and 30% respectively.
