The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government today expressed strong dissatisfaction and opposition to a number of US and Western countries, anti-Chinese media, organizations and politicians, completely ignored the spirit of the rule of law and maliciously attacked the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and made all kinds of false statements and slander after the HKSAR court handed down a conviction in the “Lai Chi-ying case” in strict accordance with the law and evidence. A spokesman for the SAR government said that these false statements and slander from outside forces reflect a real risk to national security. They have simply failed to respect the independent trial of the case by the SAR court based on facts and evidence, refuse to face up to the evidence listed in the ruling, refuse to understand the court's considerations and reasons for the ruling, and have wantonly attacked, slandered and attacked the SAR government. They completely took politics above the rule of law, distorted the facts, and reversed right from wrong. Their sinister intentions were clearly evident, and they must be harshly rebuked to set the record straight.
