On December 17, the Nanjing Museum issued an information note: On December 17, 2025, the relevant media asked “Why did Qiu Yingming from the Nanjing Museum Collection from the Ming Dynasty appear in the auction market?” The report attracted public attention. Since November 2024, our court has twice received court documents relating to Ms. Pang Shuling's “gift contract dispute”. Our hospital attached great importance to this and promptly carried out investigations and verifications. In January 1959, our hospital officially accepted 137 paintings from the Pang Family's collection donated by Mr. Pang Zenghe. The five controversial paintings mentioned in the report were determined to be “fake” in 1961 by an expert group composed of Zhang Heng, Han Shenxian, and Xie Zhiliu; in 1964, an expert group composed of Wang Dunhua, Xu Yuqiu, and Xu Xinnong were determined to be “fake” again. In the 90s of the last century, our hospital disposed of these 5 paintings in accordance with the “Measures for the Administration of Museum Collections”. Currently, the case is under investigation. In the next step, our hospital will actively cooperate with the trial of this case and thoroughly check the whereabouts of the five paintings. If it is discovered that there were illegal and irregularities during the disposal process that year, it will cooperate with the relevant departments to seriously deal with them in accordance with the law and regulations. At the same time, the standardized management of donated items and cultural relics in the collection will be further strengthened. Whether the “Jiangnan Spring” picture volume that appeared in the auction market is a gifted painting has yet to be further verified.
