Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group will invest 396.2 billion Indian rupees in India's shadow bank Shriram Finance Ltd., to obtain minority shares in the latter, becoming the latest Japanese company to expand in the rapidly growing Indian banking market. Both companies said in a statement on Friday that Mitsubishi UFJ will hold 20% of Mumbai-based Shriram's shares. This will be India's largest single foreign investment to date in financial services.
