01:37 AM EST, 12/21/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing (BCO.F) requested that the US' Federal Aviation Administration, or FAA, allow it to manufacture 35 of its 777 freighter aircraft in 2028. The request is related to the International Civil Aviation Organization's standard on greenhouse gas emissions for engines, which will be enforced from the end of 2027, according to a Dec. 19 filing. The company asked the regulator to clear its application by May 1, 2026. It added that it will only produce the units until the newer 777-8F model hits the market. The petition argued that the ban will lead to a capacity shortage and that the model is fuel-efficient compared to others.
