On December 21, local time, Palestinian President Abbas met with a delegation of Israeli peace activists in the West Bank city of Ramallah and exchanged views on topics such as promoting the peace process between Palestine and Israel, regional stability, and future political arrangements. Abbas said the “two-state solution” is the only viable path to achieving security, peace and stability for the people of Palestine and Israel and the entire region. He stressed that Israel's extreme right-wing forces deny the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the right to establish an independent nation in accordance with international legality, and will not bring security to any party. Abbas said that the Palestinian side is willing to maintain communication with all forces supporting peace. He said that achieving peace through dialogue has always been a strategic choice for Palestine. Palestine believes in political, diplomatic and legal approaches, and resolutely opposes any form of violence and terrorism. Abbas said that Israel's insistence on advancing unilateral measures such as Israel's Jewish settlement expansion, land annexation, apartheid, killing and destruction, denial of Palestinian rights, and seizure of Palestinian funds has made Israel increasingly isolated from the international community. At the same time, he said that the second phase of the cease-fire agreement signed by the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement and the relevant mediators should be promoted, which includes Hamas relinquishing control over Gaza, handing over weapons, Israel's complete withdrawal from Gaza, and starting reconstruction of the Gaza Strip. Abbas also said that the Palestinian side is advancing the reform agenda, including holding elections after the end of the conflict in Gaza, enacting an interim constitution to confirm the country's civil nature and diversity, and enacting a new political party law.
