03:29 AM EST, 12/23/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Italy's competition authority imposed a 255.8 million-euro fine on Irish airline Ryanair (RYA.IR) for the abuse of its dominant market position to block or hinder travel agencies in booking its flights in combination with other companies' flights. The Italian Competition Authority said Tuesday that Ryanair and its unit Ryanair DAC implemented an "elaborate strategy" making it harder for travel agencies to purchase Ryanair flights on its website, ryanair.com, when combined with flights operated by other carriers and/or other tourism and insurance services. The regulator noted that the abuse started in April 2023 and continued through at least April 2025, adding that the airline made its full white-label iFrame solution available to online travel agents in April 2025. The move enabled the integration of IT applications, helping to restore effective competition. Ryanair did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
