Starting at 6:00 p.m. local time on December 28, 102 townships in Myanmar's Yangon, Naypyidaw, and Mandalay provinces began holding the first phase of voting in the national multi-party democratic election. The voting period lasts from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are three stages of voting in Myanmar's general election. The second stage of voting will be held on January 11, 2026, and the third stage will be on January 25, 2026. Currently, a total of 57 political parties are contesting the election, of which 6 are eligible to run for the national election.
