KUALA LUMPUR: Citaglobal Bhd’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Citaglobal Telecommunication Sdn Bhd (CGT), has accepted approval from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for a RM48.5mil Wi-Fi connectivity project under the Universal Service Provision (USP) initiative.

Citaglobal, in a filing with Bursa Malaysia, said the project covers the installation and upgrading of network facilities to provide Wi-Fi connectivity at public higher education institutions, polytechnics and selected education institutions.

The project will commence on Jan 23, 2026, with an eight-month implementation period, followed by a three-year support and warranty phase.

“The contract adopts a build-and-transfer approach, where CGT shall transfer the ownership of the deployed network facilities and infrastructure to the Relevant Institutions 12 months after the implementation period,” it said.

For information, MCMC had advertised an invitation to register interest and submit a draft universal service plan as a universal service provider for the project on Nov 11, 2025 via its website.

Citaglobal said following the Invitation, CGT submitted a draft universal service plan to MCMC on Dec 2, 2025.

The contract will lift the group’s order book to about RM1.9bil, from RM1.1bil as at September 2025.

“The contract is expected to contribute positively to the earnings, earnings per share and net assets of the group during the contract period,” it said.
