NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ:NVDA) shares are falling Tuesday along with other stocks in the semiconductor industry after OpenAI reportedly missed internal revenue and growth projections.

Chip Stocks Slide as AI Growth Concerns Mount

According to CNBC, the shortfall has raised concerns about whether the company can sustain the level of spending required for large-scale AI infrastructure and future compute agreements.

The report is also fueling concerns that companies tied to AI infrastructure, including chipmakers, may be priced for growth that could be difficult to sustain.

Companies like Nvidia rely on continued spending from AI developers to drive demand for chips and data center infrastructure.

Peers of Nvidia, including Broadcom Inc. (NASDAQ:AVGO) and Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMD) also declined in early trading.

OpenAI pushed back on the report. "This is ridiculous. We are totally aligned on buying as much compute as we can and working hard on it together every day," the company told CNBC.

Nvidia Shares Edge Lower

NVDA Price Action: At the time of publication, Nvidia shares are trading 2.85% lower at $210.44, according to data from Benzinga Pro.
