The HKSAR Government re-appoints Lee Chun-ho as the convener of the Financial Reporting Review Panel for a term of 3 years

The Zhitong Finance App learned that on July 10, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announced that the Hong Kong Financial Secretary was transferred from the Chief Executive to appoint Liu Kangyuan, Wong Wai Pong and Professor Yeung Yung as members of the Financial Reporting Review Committee (Panel), and re-appointed Lee Chun-ho as the convenor of the committee for a period of 3 years from July 16, 2026 to July 15, 2029.

A spokesman for the Hong Kong Financial Services and Treasury Council said, “The Accounting and Financial Reporting Council (Fiscal Council) is an independent supervisory authority for the accounting profession and plays an important role in maintaining the integrity of financial reporting and promoting sound corporate governance. Among its statutory duties, the Finance and Finance Bureau is authorized to investigate whether the financial reports of listed entities violate legal, accounting or regulatory requirements.”

The Board is a statutory body established under the Accounting and Financial Reporting Council Ordinance. It is important for the Accounting and Financial Reporting Council to perform its statutory functions relating to inquiries. The members have rich experience and expertise, which will benefit the work of the Committee. In cases requiring investigation, the Accounting and Financial Reporting Council may appoint a convenor and four or more members from the panel to form a financial reporting review committee to investigate matters relating to non-compliance with the requirements. The committee will submit the investigation report on the case to the Accounting and Financial Reporting Bureau, which will review and follow up on the situation.
