The number of people employed in Canada increased by 18,200 in June, and the unemployment rate fell to 6.5%, showing signs of improvement in the country's labor market. Data released by Statistics Canada on Friday showed that new jobs mainly come from the service sector and are driven by the growth of part-time jobs. Previously, the number of new jobs added in Canada reached 88,800 in May. Economists surveyed previously predicted that the number of employed people would increase moderately by 10,000 in June, and the unemployment rate would remain at 6.6%. The retail and wholesale trade sector became the main driving force for employment growth, adding 16,400 new jobs in the month; 14,700 new jobs were added in the accommodation and food service sector. At the same time, the performance of the commodity production industry was weak, reducing employment by 43,700 people, of which employment in the manufacturing industry fell by 16,800, the biggest drop.
