This housing legislation, called the 21st Century Housing Road Act, has been passed by an overwhelming majority in both houses of the Senate and the House of Representatives. According to regulations, as long as Trump does not veto it, the bill will automatically take effect on Saturday. A White House official, who asked not to be named, said Trump would allow the bill to take effect. Trump said on social media on Friday: “I will not sign this housing bill, which has been fully passed by Congress and sent to the White House, to protest against the US Senate's inability to pass the Save America Act.” Trump abruptly cancelled the housing bill signing ceremony scheduled to be held in June in an attempt to pressure Senate Republicans by suspending approval of the bill to amend the Senate rules of procedure and push for another voter identification bill to be passed.
