The executive meeting of the State Council was held on July 10 to study the work related to cultivating emerging pillar industries. An emerging pillar industry generally refers to an industrial form that has both pillar attributes and emerging characteristics, which not only significantly supports the growth of the total national economy, but also effectively promotes the optimization and upgrading of the economic structure. This year's government work report proposes to build emerging pillar industries such as integrated circuits, aerospace, biomedicine, and low-altitude economy. Currently, China's emerging pillar industries are developing rapidly, and many industries already have a relatively mature technical foundation and market conditions. Currently, the output value of the six emerging pillar industries of integrated circuits, aerospace, biomedicine, low-altitude economy, new energy storage, and intelligent robots is close to 6 trillion yuan in 2025, and is expected to expand to more than 10 trillion yuan by 2030. The conference proposed that the whole chain should promote large-scale development of emerging pillar industries, strengthen basic research and key software and hardware research, support multi-technology route layout, highlight application guidance, and accelerate technological iteration and ecological improvement. “The development of China's emerging pillar industries is still in its infancy. The industrial base is still relatively weak. Overall breakthroughs are needed in all areas, especially the supply of more breakthrough technologies and application scenarios.” Wang Peng, an associate researcher at the Institute of Management of the Beijing Academy of Social Sciences, believes that the “full chain” combines the integrity and competitiveness of the industrial chain. Strengthening basic research can provide more source technology supply, strengthening key software and hardware research can help lay a solid foundation for the long-term development of the industry, and that a series of deployments provide scientific guidance for cultivating emerging pillar industries. The conference also pointed out that factor guarantees should be strengthened, supervision models should be optimized, and all regions should be guided to adapt to local conditions and develop in a dislocated position. Industry insiders believe that we should insist on making good use of the advantages of large market capacity and long chains in emerging pillar industries, encourage division of labor and collaboration between regions, and highlight the misplaced development of actual conditions and potential advantages in the region.
