05:53 AM EDT, 07/14/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Merck KGaA (MRK.F) said Tuesday the European Commission approved the expanded use of Erbitux, or cetuximab, for patients with BRAF V600E-mutant metastatic colorectal cancer. The approval allows Erbitux to be used as a first-line treatment in combination with encorafenib and the FOLFOX chemotherapy regimen. The German science and technology company said the regulatory nod was based on the phase 3 Breakwater clinical trial results, which showed improvements in response rates, progression-free survival, and overall survival compared with standard chemotherapy.
