On July 13, the launch meeting of the “Key Technology Demonstration Research for Improving the Quality Standards of Ethnic Herbal Medicines” project of the 2025 National Key Research and Development Plan “Traditional Chinese Medicine Modernization” project undertaken by the China Inspection Institute was held in Beijing. Yang Sheng, member of the party group and deputy director of the State Drug Administration, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. The conference pointed out that raising the quality standards for ethnic medicinal herbs relates to the safety, effectiveness, inheritance and innovation of ethnic medicines, and is of great significance in promoting the standardization and development of the industry. The conference emphasized the need to establish strict and scientific standards based on actual drug use in ethnic regions, take into account differences in production areas, clear channels for transformation of achievements, deepen cross-regional collaboration, strengthen talent training, strictly abide by the bottom line of scientific research integrity and quality, so that project results can empower the high-quality development of the industry and enhance people's sense of attainment in ethnic minority regions.
