09:55 AM EDT, 07/15/2026 (MT Newswires) -- The German government plans to reduce its climate and transformation fund by over 30 billion euros through 2030 as part of efforts to improve the country's public finances, Bloomberg News reported Wednesday. Germany's cabinet approved cutting 19.7 billion euros in planned spending from the fund, while a further 13.2 billion euros will be shifted into the federal budget over the next four years. Originally, Chancellor Friedrich Merz's government set aside 100 billion euros for the said fund, which is aimed at helping the country reduce its carbon emissions, the news outlet noted.
