BHP Group Warns of Slowdown in FY27 Copper Production

11:30 PM EDT, 07/15/2026 (MT Newswires) -- BHP Group (BHP.L, BHG.JO) said Thursday it expects copper production to decline year over year in fiscal 2027. The mining company anticipates copper output for fiscal 2027 between 1.7 million tonnes and 1.8 million tonnes. For fiscal 2026, it reported 2 million tonnes of copper production. Steelmaking coal production is expected between 18.5 million tonnes and 20.5 million tonnes, compared with 18.6 million tonnes in fiscal 2026. Energy coal production is expected between 14 million tonnes and 16 million tonnes, compared with 16.4 million tonnes in fiscal 2026. Iron ore production is expected between 260 million tonnes and 272 million tonnes, compared with 264.7 million tonnes in fiscal 2026.
