06:16 AM EDT, 07/17/2026 (MT Newswires) -- GSK (GSK.L) will stop the further development of camlipixant, an experimental treatment for refractory chronic cough, following the results of two late-stage clinical trials. The British drugmaker said Friday that the CALM-1 phase 3 trial met its primary endpoint, with the 50-milligram twice-daily dose significantly reducing 24-hour cough frequency versus placebo at week 12. However, the CALM-2 trial failed to achieve statistical significance on the same primary endpoint at week 24, while the 25-milligram twice-daily dose did not show a statistically significant benefit in either trial. Key secondary endpoints were not met in either study. Based on the overall data, GSK said the treatment's limited efficacy is unlikely to transform patient care.
