The 2026 Annual Plenary Meeting of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Standardization Technical Committee for Humanoid Robots and Embodied Intelligence and the “Standard Week” event was held in Shangyu District, Shaoxing, Zhejiang from July 15 to 17. “Last year, China produced about 20,000 humanoid robots. It has already exceeded 40,000 units in the first half of this year, and is expected to exceed 100,000 units throughout the year.” Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology Ke Jixin said at the event that the increase in production is only an indication. The deeper change is that the industry has begun to move from stand-alone prototypes and stage displays to batch delivery, and the requirements for collaboration between R&D, production, testing, application, and security management have increased dramatically. He believes that it is necessary to give full play to the fundamental, leading and supporting role of standards, lead technology iterations with high-quality standards, support large-scale application of products, and establish a solid foundation for safety.
