On July 18, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister, met with Indonesian Economic Co-ordinating Minister Erlangga, who came to China to attend the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai. Wang Yi welcomed Erlangga on a special trip to China to attend the conference, saying that Indonesia became one of the founding members of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization, reflecting Indonesia's positive attitude towards international cooperation on artificial intelligence. Tailored for the global South, this organization aims to prevent a new smart divide in the world. The development of artificial intelligence should serve all humankind. Every country has the right to catch up with the trend of the scientific and technological development era and serve its own people's livelihood, welfare, development and revitalization. China is ready to work with like-minded countries to promote the development of artificial intelligence in the direction of inclusiveness, in particular to enhance the voice and representation of developing countries, and work together to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the global South. Wang Yi stressed that under the strategic leadership of the two heads of state, China and Indonesia have made positive progress in building a common destiny in recent years. As representatives of the global South and emerging economies, China and Indonesia have similar development goals, broad common interests, and obvious complementary advantages. The two sides should strengthen the interface between development strategies, move in the opposite direction, actively interact, eliminate interference, maintain strength, continue to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, and serve as a model for solidarity, mutual assistance and joint self-improvement in the global South. The Chinese side appreciates the Co-ordinating Minister's reaffirmation that it welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest and cooperate in Indonesia, and hopes that Indonesia will provide a fair and just business environment for this purpose. Cooperation between China and Indonesia is not aimed at third parties, nor should they be interfered with by third parties. Both sides should take the lead in defending the multilateral trading system, jointly oppose “decoupling and breaking the chain”, and maintain the safety and stability of the global production and supply chain. China is ready to cooperate closely with Indonesia in international and regional affairs to promote the building of a common destiny between China and Indonesia, which has regional and global influence, and contribute to the common development of the two countries and mankind.
