11:36 PM EDT, 07/20/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Eramet (ERA.PA) and the Gabonese Republic agreed to establish the manganese value chain in the country under a memorandum of understanding. The agreement will focus on three industrial scenarios, including the development of a manganese oxide production plant in Libreville, a renovation and improvement plan for the Moanda Metallurgical Complex, and the construction of a new manganese alloy production facility in 2031, according to a Monday release. The French mining and metallurgy company noted that the measures aim to process up to 700,000 tons of manganese ore annually in the country by the end of 2031. In addition, Eramet and its unit, Eramet Comilog, plan to develop a Gabonese biochar production sector from forestry by-products and launch an industrial seed fund "Made in Gabon" to create 3,000 jobs in the country's industrial sector.
