According to reports, Sumitomo Chemical plans to mass-produce a novel solid-state battery electrolyte material suitable for electric vehicles as early as FY2028. The material uses a halide system, with elements such as chlorine as the main components, which is expected to reduce costs without reducing performance and become an alternative to sulfide and oxide electrolyte materials. This material was developed by Sumitomo Chemical in collaboration with Kyoto University and Tottori University.
