The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the China Meteorological Administration jointly issued an agricultural high temperature and drought risk warning on July 21, 2026: Since July, the number of days with high temperatures above 35℃ in south-central Shaanxi, southwestern Henan, western Hubei, and the Sichuan Basin has reached 11 to 15 days, 8 to 14 days more than in the same period of the year. It is expected that from July 22-24, high temperatures above 35℃ will continue in south-central Shaanxi, Henan, northwestern Hubei, and the Sichuan Basin. The highest temperature can reach 39~40℃, soil moisture loss is rapid, and the risk of high agricultural heat and drought is high. Drought conditions may occur in Baoji, Xianyang, Henan, Zhumadian, and Guang'an, Nanchong, and Bazhong, Sichuan, etc., which is detrimental to autumn grain production. It is recommended that these regions closely monitor changes in farmland conditions, irrigate in a timely manner, and mitigate the effects of high temperatures and droughts.
