At 19:43 on July 21, 2026, a 5.0 magnitude earthquake occurred in Mojiang Hani Autonomous County, Pu'er City, Yunnan. The depth of the earthquake was 6 kilometers. The Ministry of Water Resources immediately launched the hydraulic earthquake relief dispatch and command mechanism, held a special conference of commerce to analyze the impact of the earthquake on water conservancy projects and rural water supply, study the rainwater situation in the earthquake area, and arrange for the deployment of hydraulic earthquake relief work. Based on the national “Water Resources Map” analysis, the Ministry of Water Resources investigated the distribution of water conservancy projects such as rivers, reservoirs, hydropower stations, floodgates, and rural water supply projects in the earthquake area, and promptly notified the Yunnan Provincial Water Resources Department to guide the local authorities to immediately map out the earthquake damage situation of the project. The Yunnan Pu'er Water Authority has initiated an emergency response to the earthquake and dispatched an expert team to guide the investigation. Currently, the water conditions in the rivers in the earthquake area are stable, and no reports of earthquake damage to water conservancy projects have been received.
