According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office of Pakistan, Shahbaz said during a meeting with visiting Iranian Interior Minister Iskander Momeni in Islamabad on the same day that Pakistan is committed to maintaining regional peace and stability and will continue to mediate to help ease regional tension. Momeni said that the purpose of this visit to Pakistan is to strengthen bilateral relations. He expressed his appreciation for Pakistan's active facilitation of a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the US. Momeni also met with Palestinian Army Chief of Staff Mounir on the same day. Both sides reiterated that they will maintain close coordination and cooperation to maintain regional security and prosperity.
