This is the third time in the past five days that the US State Department has issued a global security reminder to US citizens. The US State Department issued a statement saying that due to the heightened tension in the Middle East region and the complicated security environment, there is a possibility of a sudden escalation. US citizens currently in the Middle East should be highly alert, act with caution, and prepare for possible flight cancellations, phased airspace closures, and travel disruptions. Some airlines in the region have delayed resuming flight plans made earlier, and some airlines have cancelled some routes. Meanwhile, US citizens outside of the Middle East should reconsider their trips to or through the region. The statement also said that US diplomatic facilities have been targeted, and “Iran and organizations supporting Iran may target other US interests overseas or places related to the US and US citizens around the world, including US companies and other institutions.”
