02:34 AM EDT, 07/23/2026 (MT Newswires) -- AstraZeneca (AZN.L, AZN.ST) said Thursday it received the European Commission's approval for its Etcamah treatment combination for adults with breast cancer. Etcamah in combination with a cyclin-dependent kinase 4/6 inhibitor is meant to treat patients with estrogen receptor-positive, HER2-negative locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer upon detection of ESR1 mutation and without disease progression during first-line endocrine therapy in combination with a CDK4/6 inhibitor. The Commission's approval was based on positive results from the Serena-6 phase 3 trial, where the combination therapy reduced the risk of disease progression or death by 56% compared with standard-of-care treatment.
