Driven by the boom in investment in artificial intelligence and data center projects, foreign investors applied to invest 1.37 trillion baht in Thailand in the first half of 2026, an increase of 80% over the same period last year. Narit Therdsteerasukdi, Secretary General of the Investment Promotion Commission of Thailand, said that in the six months up to June 30, the Commission had received 1,299 domestic and foreign investment applications, with a total investment amount of 1.47 trillion baht, including 877 foreign direct investment projects. The digital sector alone accounted for 1.12 trillion baht, more than three-quarters of the total number of applications. These investment projects also showed that the war in the Middle East boosted energy and other costs, but did not reduce Thailand's appeal.
