China Telecommunication Union: The national non-fossil energy generation composite index in June was 192.2, up 9.0% year on year

The Zhitong Finance App learned that on July 23, the China Electric Power Enterprise Federation released the National Electricity Supply Series Index (CNESI) for June 2026. In June 2026, the national non-fossil energy power generation composite index was 192.2, up 92.2% from the 2020 base period (100 from the 2020 base period), up 9.0% year on year; among them, the new energy power generation composite index was 301.0, up 201.0% from the 2020 base period, up 10.9% year on year. Guided by the “double carbon” target, the non-fossil energy and new energy generation composite index maintained a rapid growth trend.

In June, the installed capacity index of non-fossil energy power generation was 256.0. Since the “14th Five-Year Plan”, the total installed capacity of non-fossil energy power generation has increased by a total of 156.0%, an increase of 13.6% over the previous year; the share of non-fossil energy power generation installed capacity has increased by a cumulative total of 39.3% since the “14th Five-Year Plan” (the proportion increased from 44.8% at the end of 2020 to 62.4% at the end of June 2026). Among them, the installed scale index of new energy power generation was 354.4 in June, and the cumulative installed scale of new energy power generation increased by 254.4% since the “14th Five-Year Plan”, an increase of 16.4% over the previous year; the proportion of installed capacity of new energy power generation increased by 92.9% since the “14th Five-Year Plan” (the proportion increased from 25.7% at the end of 2020 to 49.5% at the end of June 2026).

In June, the non-fossil energy power generation scale index was 185.3, up 85.3% from the 2020 base period, an average annual increase of 10.8%, and a year-on-year increase of 7.1%; the non-fossil energy power generation share index was 131.7, up 31.7% from the 2020 base period. Among them, the scale index of new energy generation capacity in June was 333.7, an increase of 233.7% over the 2020 base period, an average annual increase of 22.2%, and an increase of 8.9%; the share index of new energy power generation was 237.2, an increase of 137.2% over the 2020 base period.

In June, the Fossil Energy Generation Composite Index was 105.0, up 5.0% from the 2020 base period and 0.9% year on year. Among them:

In June, the fossil energy power generation installed capacity index was 125.1. Since the “14th Five-Year Plan”, the cumulative installed capacity of fossil energy power generation has increased by 25.1%, an increase of 6.5% over the previous year. The share of fossil energy power generation installed capacity in June was 68.1. Since the “14th Five-Year Plan”, the share of fossil energy power generation installed has decreased by 31.9% (the proportion fell from 55.2% at the end of 2020 to 37.6% at the end of June 2026).

In June, the fossil energy generation scale index was 114.9, up 14.9% from the 2020 base period, with an average annual increase of 2.3%, and a year-on-year decrease of 1.6%. The share index of fossil energy generation in June was 81.7. Compared with the base period, the share of fossil energy power generation decreased by 18.3% cumulatively.
